Thoughts and reflections from Pastor Lin.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month! Last Sunday, BHCC gave Pastor John and I an incredible gift! They flooded us with cards filled with words of love, gratitude & appreciation! They also gave us a much desired Keurig Coffee Maker (or hot chocolate maker depending on your preference!). We greatly appreciate the Keurig, but there are no words to describe what the love-filled words mean to us! Words can have an amazing power, can't they? I love written words because you can read them over and over again! I truly feel sorry for anyone who does not know what it means to have a church family.  They have no idea what they are missing. So many people see the church as a building or a place you go too and they don't understand that the Church is the family of God! In fact, it's strange to me how many people...

Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT) "For the Lord your God is living among you.       He is a mighty savior.    He will take delight in you with gladness.       With his love, he will calm all your fears.       He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Hi Friends,

Yup, it's true!  God wants to have an intimate love connection with YOU! He wants to have a personal relationship with you and He wants to be involved in all the details of your life!

What He wants you to know more than anything else is that at the end of the day, at the end of your life, all that REALLY matters IS relationships! Your relationship with God and your relationships with others is all that really matters! The career, the bank account status, the car you drive, your portfolio or list of vacations will mean nothing compared to the value of how well you loved God and others in this life!

That is the focus of our current message series called "Love at Last Sight!" We've all heard the expression that it was "Love at first sight!" But we've all experienced the reality that that kind of superficial love can be shallow and very short-lived.  How 'bout the idea of love at last sight? Was there love shown and expressed the last time we saw that person? Has our love grown stronger each time we see the people closest to us?

WOW, the new website looks AMAZING! It's so cool to have a new and improved look!  Kind of represents what's happening in our church as a whole!  God is all about making things NEW and we are all so blessed to be along to ride on the waves he creates!

He continues to make our lives new and improved every day!  Thanks be to God!  His mercies are also NEW every morning! Halleluiah!

Can't wait to see all the 'new and improved' things God will do in our church throughout our Fall Open House Series starting Oct. 2nd!  Wooo-hoo! Check out our new series, Love at Last Sight! (So much better than love at First Sight!)

Wow, August sure went by fast.  You can feel it in the air, seasons are changing.  We can often feel seasons changing in our personal lives as well. It certainly is the case in my life. My Mom went home to be with the Lord on 8/18/2011.  There's a memorial service for her at her church in Florida tomorrow and we'll be having a celebration of her life service at our Mosaic Campus on Sept. 12th at 7pm. Even though it was in their later years, I am incredibly grateful that both my parents came to know the LORD before leaving the planet.  I have so much to thank God for! I can't imagine going through the hard seasons of life and not having the faith and hope that we Christians have been given through our faith in Christ. We definitely do not grieve like the rest of the world: 1 Thes. 4:13: "And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope." One season of my life has ended, but another one has already...

We're in the midst of planning our 2011 Fall Open House.  We've actually been planning it for quite some time but wow, here we are now in mid-August already! It's a little funny to me that a church would have an 'open house.'  I mean, we're always an open house of course!  But for whatever reason, we always get a great response to these.  I think it sends a clear message that we REALLY want guests and visitors to come to our church. You would think all churches would be like that, but they're not. My husband and I have visited many churches in the past who were not very warm and welcoming at all.  It almost made us feel like we walked into someone else's party and weren't really wanted. That's why I'm so proud of the people at BHCC for sooo not being like that! Over and over again, I hear first time guests tell me what an awesome job we do in welcoming guests and making them feel comfortable and wanted! I know the reason is because we are sincere in our welcoming!  We know we are on a mission from God and a big part of our mission is to welcome new family members HOME! I know our church isn't for everyone, and I'm totally okay with that!  The ones who are supposed to stay, stay! God is the one building this family and I love the fact that I get to participate in His redemptive work!  What an honor, what a joy!...

It's amazing to me HOW MUCH has happened in just a little over a month! 17 people were baptized at BHCC on July 10th, 2011!!! My mother went into an ICU in a florida hospital and I had to abruptly fly down there.  She's doing fine now, praise be to God, but wow, what a scary adventure. Two days after returning from Florida, our family went to the ADK's for a 6 day vacation!  I flew home late Friday night, wrote a sermon on Sat., unpacked, repacked and left for the ADK's right after church.  What a whirlwind but oh yeah, we had an awesome time! In the midst of all this, we found out that Bill has lung cancer!  Our hearts took a huge hit on that one.  But we are all walking in faith and expecting an awesome testimony and miracle to come out of this!...

Hi Friends, Happy Summer days!

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather as much as I am!

I am SOOOO excited about our baptism / picnic this Sunday after church!  Praying that ALL OF YOU plan to be there for this most important day in the life of our church!

We have seen some absolutely miraculous conversions in the last 4-5 months and I am so thrilled to see God moving in our church in such incredible ways!  I can not describe what it means to me personally to be on the journey of faith with all of you!  Words cannot describe what it means to see people I love struggling to find faith, and then suddenly get a revelation from God Himself and it's as if the lights suddenly come on, and they believe!

For some people, it is like the song writer John Newton said: "I was blind, but now I see."

One of the people who will be baptized wrote "Everything has changed!" and then put a link to this song: "You Put the Light in Me!" by...

Hi Friends! Below is the scripture that the LORD showed me right before starting BHCC:

Isaiah 43:19

For I am about to do something new.       See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?    I will make a pathway through the wilderness.       I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

And He has kept His promise to do a brand new thing in and through BHCC!  BHCC is STILL a brand new church!  Not only are we as a church NEW, but He continues to make more and more NEW things happen at our church.  He's still making NEW pathways through the wilderness and creating NEW living waters in dry land in our midst and through our community!

Rev. 21:5a And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!”

In light of that, I am very excited to see all the NEW things God is doing in the BHCC family!!!

Here's just a few:

NEW life in Christ Jesus! We have at least 12 people who have committed their life...
